THE FAILURE OF THE STIMULUS FOR EVERGREEN COLORADO REAL ESTATE

The much advertised QE1 and QE2 have failed to stimulate the economy. The Federal Reserve in the QE1 fiasco bought toxic mortgage backed securities from the bankrupt “to big to fail” banks to bail them out of bankruptcy. The cash given to the banks for the defaulting mortgages was used by the banks to invest in Wall Street, creating tremendous demand for Stocks and commodities but no demand for products on Main Street. Consequently, the stock marker is overheating while consumer demand is tanking.

In QE2 the dimwitted Fed poured 600 billion into foreign banks; those were the banks that won the auction to sell securities to the Fed. So the Fed pumped billions into foreign banks whose American branches won the bid. The cash is now sitting in the reserve accounts of foreign banks while we pay interest to foreign banks; and our economy still remains cash starved. America gets the inflation tax, no new jobs, no loans to businesses small and large while foreign bankers collect the interest on the QE2 securities. Welcome to the gross incompetence of the Federal Reserve and the Federal government.

The “to big to fail” banks should have gone bankrupt, the mortgage backed securities should have been auctioned off, AIG should have paid their insurance claims or gone broke, the 1.25 trillion for QE1 and QE2 the Fed’s printed in their basement should have paid off 1.25 trillion of Congresses deficit, capitalism should have reigned and America would be prosperous today.

Oh when will we ever learn; our simple system of constitutional government works the best. Dismantle the Federal government, end the Federal Reserve, start a national government bank and 50 individual state banks to keep cash flowing in America. That is what our Founding Fathers wanted and every time we wander away from this simple model our economy collapses. If we continue with the same worn out politicians and the same inane policies we will continue to suffer the same result.

America has abandoned the Free Market Capitalism that made her great.

There is always much press given to Hedge Funds these days because many Hedge funds have amassed large fortunes in the last few years. The Hedgers have bet that the markets would tumble and they were right. Hedge funds made lots of money on the crash of 2008 when the Federal Reserve bubble burst and the American economy tanked.

The Hedgers were initially producers and manufacturers who wanted to insure a fixed price for their products. So a farmer would sell a future contract so that he knew he could sell his wheat or corn for a set price before he planted, while the cereal manufacture would buy the wheat or corn future so that he knew what his raw material would cost at harvest time. But in stepped the speculator.

Speculators now gamble on the rise or fall of commodity prices and try to act as a middle man between the users and producers of commodities. These speculators try to make money by betting on price volatility in the markets. Often the price movements are nothing more than the speculators themselves betting against one another. Like investors who buy short or long in the stock market the hedgers are gambling on the future.

If a speculator thinks the market will go down he buys short believing that prices will drop and he will make a profit on the lower prices; if he is confident the market price will rise he buy long and waits for market prices to go up. The hedge fund business, as is selling stocks and bonds long or short, is a risky enterprise. You risk your money on the future rise and fall of the market and that is an iffy game.
