The whole economic system from the oval office down to the most modest home has its foundation built on debt. Our money is created by creating debt. Since our economy, and every economy in the entire global market, is based on debt we need to continually loan money out to supply the cash or currency to keep our economy running. The major problem is, of course, that the government should create the money and profit from the interest not the Federal Reserve.

 

The booming housing market of a few years ago created all the money the economy needed to support itself. When the greed of the big banks and the Wall Street Bonus Barons destroyed the home mortgage market, it left a huge vacuum in the money supply. This vacuum must be filled if the economy is to return. The Obama administration and the Republican leadership don’t seem to be able to comprehend the problem and therefore can’t comprehend the solution. We need new thinking and new economics: the economics are really not new but a return to the basics. Good intentions and a sincere desire to help will not overcome bad economics and a lack of understanding the basics.
