With the elections just a few days away most people are hoping for a break in the Colorado economy. If Amendments 60, 61, 62, 63, and proposition 101 pass there is hope for a new dawn in this state. To pretend that Jobs will be lost if these ballot issues pass just demonstrates how far the voters are from the reality of their situation.

County salaries enormous when compared to private salaries, and a bureaucratic regulatory rampage has devastated businesses and squeezed profits to all time lows. The estimates show that these measures would lower the oppressive tax burden by about $2,000.00 per house hold per year. Yes county spend would need to be rolled back to 2005 levels but many families could save their homes from foreclosure.

If you invested the 2k in a Roth IRA in ten years you would have enough to send you child or grandchild to college: loan free; You could make all the payments on a modest car financed over 5 years; you could spend 2k a year painting, repairing, or improving your home; you could rent a condo and go skiing for a week on the western slope; the family could join a health club and start to work out; you could buy a camper and start to visit Yellowstone, Disney World, or Alaska if you have the time all on a campers budget. All these adventures would create jobs, stimulate investment, contribute to the kids childhood experiences, and bring your family closer during these hard times; rather than moping around the house while Mom and Dad worry about tomorrow.

I have never sat at the dinning room table on a holiday with my family and looked at tax receipts. But with fond memories, and with faces all aglow we have relived our camping trips, our weeks in snowy Steamboat, winter horseback riding, swimming in the Atlantic for a week in North Carolina, enjoying Disney Land with the kids, and going to all the college graduations full of pride and satisfied that all the bills were paid and the kids had a chance at life.

Life should not be about spending more than half of your life’s labor working to pay taxes for thoughtless political schemes that have destroyed our schools, amassed hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt for our children down to the 5th generation, and have shattered the moral compass of our young folks. I know very few people who still send their children to the government schools. All my children are home schooling the grandkids or sending them to private schools. All the grandkids are excelling. It always amazes me how excited all the pundits get when the Dow Jones goes up by a hundred or two hundred points in a day or a week! I suppose that the American listening public is happy, because they think that the economy or their stock portfolio has rebounded, and that they are on their way to a financial windfall. Let’s think about that.

 

If the Stock market rose a few hundred points, are any of the companies listed worth more than they were two weeks before. Did IBM, Microsoft, or Google invent a new widget that will increase their profits and their net worth by millions of dollars? Did Caterpillar sell some third world country a billion dollars worth of bulldozers; or did Verizon steal all the business away from Sprint, and AT&T. Are your dividends, if you hold their stock, going up by 5% or 10%? Did the inherent quality of the stock improve? And conversely, if the stock goes down in a short period of time, has the company’s market share disintegrated or have they made a poor decision? Or is it all just speculation?

 

Wall Street is the only place where people think it is OK to buy a business for 8X, 15X, 40X the yearly earnings, and think that is a good deal just because everyone else in the market is making the same poor judgment. I have been in business for over 30 years, and have represented people who buy and sell businesses, and I don’t know one successful man or one successful women who would pay any more than 1X or 2X yearly earnings for a thriving enterprise. Now that your home is paid for in 15 years, you could take the amount of the mortgage payment, $2532.00, and invest the entire amount each month for the next 15 years in an IRA. That would give you a nest egg of $455,760.00 before earnings, and a home that is completely paid for and all college cost covered. Now that’s a new model that will make you financially independent when you retire – and don’t forget you will still receive a check from Social Security.

They have given a trillion dollars to their incompetent banker cronies, sent the interest and principal bill to you and your children, and refuse to answer any questions about who got the money and when will it be returned. You see the Federal Reserve is a private bank, and the courts have ruled that they do not need to respond to any “freedom of information act” legal request.

 

This massive debt, the congress has saddled you and your children with, will only enslave the American citizens, and strangle American business. The Federal Reserve System is a system of debt based money with the Federal Reserve in charge, with no accountability to anyone. They just gave away two trillion dollars of your money and have refused to tell Congress where the money went. The Federal Reserve has told Congress that they will not be audited, they will not let the Gold in Fort Knox be audited, and they will spend trillions of dollars and sent the bill to “we the people” without any oversight whatsoever.

 

In the last two years the confidence in the American banking system has become non-existent.
