The Republicans are elated that public opinion is shifting and people like Senator Chris Dodd from Connecticut are being swept aside. The electorate is holding him, and the Democrats, responsible for his gross failures while serving in Congress for 36 years. Why it took 36 years is a mystery to me but at least the voters are starting to judge between successful and failing policies.
However, let’s not forget that the Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House during the first half of the Bush years and nothing changed. They generated huge sums of cash with the Bush tax cuts and then proceeded to out spend all the revenue increases on silly and foolish pork barrel projects. They lived high on the hog of pork and lost control because they forgot the people they were sent there to serve.
Now, in their infinite foolishness the Republicans want to run candidates who have morphed into a hybrid of a democratic social engineering liberal and a Regan fiscal conservative thinking that by blending the two they will again gain a majority control of power.
The grassroots ground swell is percolating up from the hurt and heartfelt disappointment the citizens are feeling. The pain of government failure at every level and the economic failure of the Federal Reserve which caused another major downturn in our economy is inspiring the grassroots voters to completely clean house. They want to straighten out the mess and get on with the business of serving “We The People.” If the Republicans fail to read the signs of the times then they to will be pushed aside with Obama and the democrats.
