Real Estate is the only investment which is still paying dividends even if the price had dropped. Our rental properties are still producing income. Whether the properties ever return to their pre bust values doesn’t diminish their income producing value.

The whole economic system from the oval office down to the most modest home has its foundation built on debt. Our money is created by creating debt. Since our economy, and every economy in the entire global market, is based on debt we need to continually loan money out to supply the cash or currency to keep our economy running. Whenever there is a crisis like the Wall Street debacle, or the mortgage melt down, or the problem with the open borders every politician want to draft “new legislation” to solve the problem. But we have hundreds of volumes of laws already written and not enforced. What’s the good of writing another volume of law when we don’t enforce the laws we already have? Everyone knows it is illegal to enter the US without going through immigration. We all know that the Federal Reserve, the Treasury, and the SEC must not allow any bank to sell useless and fraudulent mortgage securities. And we all realize that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were illegally buying mortgages without the proper banking procedures laid out in the current laws.

 

I don’t see any benefit to passing more and more laws that our politicians and bureaucrats will not enforce. What we need to do is to go through the law books all the way back to the beginning and clean out all the supposed fixes throughout the decades and get things down to a manageable size. We then need to enforce the heart of the law without exception and make out politicians and bureaucrats legally responsible for enforcing the law.

Everyday I read another report from some analyst who wants to convince me that the market has turned around and the economy is “growing again” at 5 or 6 % a year, adjusted for inflation, of course. If we have learned anything in this lingering recession it is that the government must be lean and cheap, Government should take the responsibility for a few things that we the people need and get out of all other area. We also need to return to local government, and unravel this big brother in Washington and Denver, and let the local community control its own fate. Since the Fed’s got involved in education we went from number 1 to number 49th out of 189 countries. And so it goes for everything they touch. Government is incapable of doing anything right – when, oh when, will we ever learn?
